Tarangire National Park

Escape

Tarangire National Park is crossed by the Tarangire River, which is a major gathering place for all the animals. Some of these nomadic animals travel miles to come and drink during the dry season. Elephants can be seen in large numbers all year round, digging into the sand at the bottom of the riverbed to bring up the precious liquid and quench their thirst. As for the marshes, they remain green all year round.

During migration, you can spot wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, and throughout the year buffalo, impala, antelope, eland and giraffe… It’s the largest migratory concentration after the Serengeti. Predators such as lions, cheetahs and leopards are present in greater numbers, waiting for the animals at the waterhole.

Here you’ll find 550 different species of birds, including the inseparable, some of which only breed in the park. At Tarangire, pythons climb the trees, as do lions and leopards reclining in the branches of the sausage tree. The baobabs are the star trees of the park. Try the fruit, it’s the children’s sweet-tart candy.
